When the band announced earlier today that “Not Advised was dead”, it was presumed that the band members would be parting ways and that was that. However, this may not be the case, especially if you look closely at the band’s statement coupled with a comment John Feldmann, the producer the band worked with in LA, made. Our theory that the band may simply be changing their name before releasing a new album is explained below.
The band’s statement was as follows:
“NOT ADVISED IS DEAD. We’ve had the time of our lives in this band but have all decided that the time has come to move on. Thank you for everything. We’ll be getting together next week to record a video message explaining the reasons why, which we will post on here.”
This statement says that the name Not Advised is dead and that they ALL have decided the time has come to move on. There is no usual reason of one or two members not enjoying touring life or having musical differences.
The band flew out to LA late last year to record with legendary producer and Goldfinger frontman John Feldmann. During and after this trip the band members had stated how pleased they were with the new songs. Also significantly Feldmann wrote the following message on his official Facebook page, soon after recording with Not Advised: “Mixing a UK band that I hope change their name
”
The trip to LA and recording session would have been very pricey, so it seems rather odd for a band to simply quit after recording their debut album and before it is released. Yet, if they have been thinking about or advised (no pun intended) to change their name, now would be the time to do it – especially if they have signed to a new label.
Finally, members of other bands that were also percieved to be friends with the Not Advised band members have been rather quiet and not forthcoming with any “so sad to hear about Not Advised” type comments. This again would point to the fact they know what is coming next week and that the band will be simply changing their name. Changing a band name can be risky but it does happen, such as Tonight Is Goodbye changing to Futures and recently Tiger Please switching to The People, The Poet.
We could be barking up the wrong tree, but we have a feeling they will be back before you know it – with a new name, album and maybe even a new label. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments below.
